Sewing together off-cuts of fabric creates a colourful background for a notice board, and the contrast of the zebra print ribbon adds interest to hold memos
On the front of the cushion I hand embroidered a starfish, and I sewed tiny white and clear beads to add texture. For the back of the cushion, I created the hexagons using fabric samples and the English paper piercing technique and sewed each hexagon together by hand. The front and back pieces will be sewn together with a beaded trim.
A project done while studying at Walsall College in 2011. The idea was to brighten up a drab piece of furniture. I designed the fabric myself by hand painting the flowers and sewing buttons in the center of each flower. The fabric was upholstered with a rope-style trim. The legs was painted in a sunshine yellow and distressed to create a country look. Beeswax was applied to protect the wood and highlight the colour.
